Earth Facing Activity Quiet
Good morning. Attached is an updated image of the visible solar disk on Thursday. Solar activity on the Earth facing side of the sun is currently at very low levels (see story below about farsided activity). Region 1991 continues to decay as it transits the southern hemisphere and is no longer considered a major threat for stronger solar flares. All other visible regions regions remain stable or in a state of decay. New regions 2000 and 2001 were numbered overnight, however both appear to be insignificant at this time. No Earth directed coronal mass ejections were observed during the past 24 hours.

[h=3]MORE EARTHQUAKES IN EAST TENNESSEE OVERNIGHT SHARE:

Small earthquakes seem to be plentiful of late in East Tennessee. A 2.6 quake was recorded near Loudon Tennessee this morning around 2:30am. This following a 2.1 quake recorded near Spring City last night at 11:45. A 2.0 quake also shook Greenback Tn Tuesday morning at 6:42am. You may recall that a 2.5 quake was recorded on March 2nd near Pikeville TN. Most residents who noticed anything at all from the minor quakes say it sounded like a sonic boom rather than an earthquake. The Eastern Tennessee seismic zone extends across Tennessee and northwestern Georgia into northeastern Alabama. It is one of the most active earthquake areas in the Southeast. Although the zone is not known to have had a large earthquake, a few earthquakes in the zone have caused slight damage. Here is the latest earthquake data from the USGS.
