A taste of winter in early September

Alberta snowfall continues near Canmore
“We’re not even officially done with summer but there could be some bad news right around the corner,” says theweathernetwork.
“A cold arctic air mass will move south across the (Canadian) Prairies to start the upcoming work week,” said Dayna Vettese. “It will bring with it very cold temperatures and some of the coolest air we’ve seen since last winter.
And the possibility of the dreaded winter-related s-word isn’t out of the question.
“Models are suggesting that some of the precipitation present at the time could change over to snow or a mix of a rain and snow,” Vettese said.
In fact, a light layer of snow covered the slopes of Sunshine Village in Banff. Similarly, a light layer of snow covered the mountains near Canmore, Alberta, early Wednesday afternoon.
