Kabul (BNA) India’s new consular has taken up his work in Herat province.
Amit Kumar, India’s new general consular in an introductory meeting with Herat governor Sayed Fazlullah Wahidi recalled India’s interest for extension of friendly relations between the two countries.
Governor of Herat while receiving the Indian new appointed general consular declared overall preparations of the province’s local government for facilitation of relevant affairs to development and extension of bilateral friendship between the two countries.
Wahidi while praising India and its people for friendly and honest cooperation in reconstruction particularly in completion of infrastructural plans including Salma Dam asked for widely continuation of the cooperation in future.
In return, the Indian new general consular informed of acceleration of efforts for completion of the dam, expressing hoped that the project would be completed in current year.
He says with completion of the project, most areas will be irrigated and thousands of residents of the province will get access to constant electricity.
Salma Dam, which is located in Chesht Sharif district, is under construction by financial assistance of India.
